“I think what initially drew me to Gastroenterology was inflammatory bowel disease.  Someone close to me was significantly affected by ulcerative colitis when I was a child. As there were limited options for therapy back then, it is wonderful that there are now multiple effective therapies/biologics to treat both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. I also love the fact that Gastroenterology is such a diverse field, encompassing diagnosing and treating infection, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatic and biliary disease, cancer, and other disorders.  I also love doing procedures, which also drew me to the field,” she says.
