Travis F. Wiggins, M.D.
Dr. Wiggins is a board-certified gastroenterologist and Managing Partner of Gastro Savannah, where he has cared for patients in the Savannah community and region since 2011. He previously served as Director of Gastroenterology at Candler and St. Joseph’s Hospitals. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Wiggins graduated summa cum laude from The Citadel with a degree in biology. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency, before going on to complete his Gastroenterology fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Dr. Wiggins believes that the foundation of excellent care is a strong relationship between physician and patient. He takes the time to understand not only each patient’s condition, but also their individual goals and concerns.
“Our patients deserve the very best we can offer,” he says. “I strive to combine advanced expertise with a thoughtful, personalized approach, built on trust and open communication.” He treats the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, with particular expertise in colonoscopy and advanced polyp removal, management of GERD and Barrett’s esophagus including radiofrequency ablation, ERCP for biliary disorders, and endoscopic treatment of GI strictures including stent placement. He is experienced in managing complex cases while maintaining a patient-centered, accessible approach to care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wiggins enjoys spending time with his wife and their three sons—whom he affectionately calls “the A Team” because all of their names begin with the letter “A.” He is an avid fisherman, scuba diver, and outdoorsman, and also enjoys following Citadel football.
