Matthew T. Mishoe, D.O.
Dr. Mishoe grew up in Huntington, West Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from Marshall University and a Master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He attended medical school at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency in North Carolina at UNC Blue Ridge. He completed fellowship training in Gastroenterology at UNC Blue Ridge. He continued practicing at UNC Blue Ridge as a teaching faculty gastroenterologist working with fellows in training and resident physicians.
He then moved to Savannah, Ga in November 2025, where he started with Gastro Savannah in January 2026.Â
“I started medical school to be a cardiologist, but during medical school, I was introduced to gastroenterology and developed a passion for GI medicine, particularly with regards to the liver. I also enjoyed doing procedures, making gastroenterology an ideal match for my interests."
He enjoys caring for his patients in all aspects of treating GI and liver conditions, but his particular interests include autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis and dysphagia as well colon cancer prevention by performing screening colonoscopies. He has two children and enjoys an array of various hobbies in his spare time. He started with Gastro Savannah in February 2026.
